ABOUT US

Welcome to Kity's Village

Hello! My name is Ms. Samantha.

I’m writing this so you can know a little about myself, where I was born, my childhood, my journey as an adult, getting married, the addition of my own two children with my husband, and my adventures in childcare. Lastly, why I feel it is important for me to get my directors credentials.

I was born in Granite City, Illinois at St. Elizabeth Hospital in 1979. My parents are Norma J. H. and George M. G.. My mother is still alive and living well in Georgia with my Step Father, and my grandmother. Unfortunately, I lost my father back in December of 2007.

My childhood was a good one, although a bit chaotic, as they always are. You could say that I was a military brat, with what felt like constant moving, all over the country. Even thou my mother was not in the military, we moved around, a lot! My father was in the military, but he was not part of my life, or at least, until I reached adulthood. A few short years later, he passed away. I never really got to know him, and its something I regret.

I have a sister who lives in Arkansas, where she lives with her husband, and her own two children. I had a brother, but he passed away some years ago.

I graduated from high school in 1999, and shortly after that, I met my husband, through a mutual friend, that I was living with. Like most marriages, it has had its share of ups and downs, but for the most part, it has been a great marriage. My husband has been supportive, and encourages me to meet the world head on, and only takes my hand to guide me when I ask for it. His strengths are my weaknesses, and my strengths are his weaknesses. We complement each other. We have two beautiful boys together.

My Husband is a Colorado "Native", as they say, and he wanted to move back home so that he could take care of his aging grandparents. We moved to Colorado, before our children were born. It was an adventure getting to know them, living thru WWII, the great depression, and the years in-between. I got to listen to their stories of my husband as a child, and live his childhood through their eyes. I do wish I had been able to know them, and their adventure, better. Unfortunately, a short time after the move, they both passed away.

As sad as that was, the good thing about the move, we were able to buy our first house together, which was much bigger than we needed. Turning the house into a home, slowly decorating it in our eyes (A process that never seems to end, and one we are still working on).

When we bought the house, the intention was to just live the rest of our lives there. As my husband did not want children, but, after many years of convincing, I got my wish, and we planned our first child, or at least, as much as you can, together. Luckily, we bought more house than we needed!

Our first child decided to throw a couple wrenches in that though. A minor complication, and our first was born arrived five weeks early, a handful of days before my husband’s birthday. Fortunately, he was perfectly healthy, and we came home from the hospital, after a two day stay, with our newborn on Christmas Day. What a day to come home from the hospital! No stores are open, nowhere to buy formula, diapers, wipes, or any of the other things you need to bring home a newborn!

Prior to our first child being born, my husband encouraged me to open an In-Home-Daycare, so that when he was born, I could spend as much time with our child, ensuring he was brought up with our values, while also adding a little something to our income and lifestyle. Which I am very grateful for being able to see my child grow each step of the way. Opening the day care has been a wonderful experience. I met new people, expanding my son’s, and my own, social network.

A few short years later, we got a huge surprise in finding out I was pregnant with our second child. The surprise was that after our first was born, we were told that I was unable to have, physically, any more children. But a greater power thought otherwise! This time I was able to carry him to term, and 2 weeks before my birthday, we welcomed our second son to this world.

Again, my husband encouraged me to further my career in the Child Care field, by obtaining my directors certificate, and possibly even opening a Brick-N-Mortar day care outside of our home. I love watching the children learn and grow, as I work with them, teach them, and getting down to their level and seeing eye to eye with them, when they cooperate! So this seemed to be a good idea, and I agreed.

Knowing now, how much I love working with “The Littles”, as I call them, it only seemed logical, with my husband’s encouragement, to further my education. This makes it so I can better the lives of the children I care for, at the same time I get the enjoyment of teaching them, while also spending time with my own, and helping them learn, and grow.

Now we have been open since 2020, and I think we will stay as a In-Home daycare (for now). The ability to know the children, personally, and working with them, and their individual needs... It has been a true learning experience, for myself, and "The Littles".

As of this writing, I have 2 autistic children in my care. This has been eye opening, as I also have children that don't have autism. Seeing how they learn differently, communicate differently, and their individual needs are quite different.

Its truly exciting to watch the light bulbs go off in their eyes, and the children are so hungry, and eager, to learn.

What We Do

At K.I.T.Y's Village, we understand that every family’s needs are unique. That's why we offer personalized in-home daycare services, providing your child with the comfort of home while receiving the same high-quality care and attention they would at our center.

Our experienced caregivers create a nurturing and educational environment tailored to your child’s individual needs and routine. We focus on fostering growth through engaging activities, nutritious meals, and plenty of playtime—all in the familiar surroundings of your own home.

Whether you need part-time or full-time care, our in-home daycare service is designed to provide peace of mind, knowing that your little one is in safe, loving hands, right where they feel most secure.

Primary Offerings

I offer daily care, Monday thru Friday, during normal business hours, for your littles.

Secondary offerings

Emergency care services for your little.

What is Emergency care?

You have a emergency out of town meeting, in/out of town family crisis, or something to that effect.

With prior approval, you can setup a drop off for your child, where I watch your child for up to 5 days

(excluding weekends at this time, subject to change).

This means, I provide meals, snacks, bathing, sleeping arrangements, and obviously, the daily care, of your little.

Emergency Care Services Process

You contact me, so we can discuss what your needs and expectations are.

We arrange for a date and time to drop off your little. Yes, it can even be the same day.

I email you a packet to be printed out and filled out.

Once I have the packet, I set up a account, via BrightWheel, to handle payment.

You bring your little to my home (if after hours, I might be able to pick the little up) at the time designated.

You provide me with any medications needed, any specific personal items (teddy bears, blankets, special soaps, etc), and double the cloths, needed for the duration of the stay.

Thats it. It sounds like a daunting process. But its really quite simple.
